Emergency Relief Funding Page
Place2Give has put up an emergency relief fund page. They are focusing on grassroots organizations.

Red Cross
You can make donations directly to the Red Cross by calling 1-800-418-1111 or at www.redcross.ca or by texting “Red Cross” to 30333.

United Way
United Way of Calgary and Area is also accepting donations to support organizations dealing with the short term and longer term effects of the flooding in Calgary and our surrounding communities: http://www.calgaryunitedway.org

Cell Phone donations:

Rogers customers may make a $5 donation by texting “ABHELP” to 4664.

All other cell phone customers can text “REDCROSS” to 30333.

All mobile users, with the exception of SaskTel, Mobilicity, and Public Mobile subscribers, can donate $5 to the Canadian Red Cross by texting in REDCROSS to 30333 and then replying with YES to the response message received soon after sending in REDCROSS. The Mobile Giving Foundation Canada enables this platform that allows such donations to be billed across carriers.

Samaritans Purse Canada is accepting text donations. Text “AID” to 20222 to donate $10 to Southern Alberta flood relief.

All mobile users, with the exception of SaskTel, Mobilicity, and Public Mobile subscribers, can donate $10 to the Samaritans Purse Canada by texting in AID to 20222 and then replying with YES to the response message received soon after sending in AID.

Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelteraccepting donations of cash, new clothing and basic essentials for displaced women and children due to flooding. Donation hotline: (403) 539-5130.

Loblaws Locations: All Alberta Superstores, Extra Foods, Your Independent Grocers, No Frills and Shop Easy stores are accepting monetary donations to support the Alberta Red Cross, Calgary Food Bank and Salvation Army High River. Donations can be made at the cash registers.

McKenzie Towne Council
Visit the website for a list of items accepted by McKenzie Towne Council. Donations will be accepted at McKenzie Towne Hall (40 McKenzie Towne Boulevard – in the Traffic Circle). No clothes or monetary donations Please!

Princess Auto is collecting pet supplies (for all the displaced pets in Calgary and area) and toiletries (travel size) for everyone affected by the terrible flood we have experienced. They are also offering free work gloves for volunteers. Please feel free to come on down to Princess Auto and donate.

Here is a list of what is needed (along with food) for our furry friends…

  • Stackable, plastic litter pans (no covers)
  • Litter box scoops
  • Kitty litter – clay, non-clumping and pelleted, recycled newspaper type
  • Bleach
  • Disposable latex gloves
  • Plastic and metal food bowls (dog and cat – all sizes)
  • Dog collars (medium and large sizes)
  • Dog leashes (medium and large sizes – no retractable)
  • Sheets, towels and blankets (all sizes – no duvets, sleeping bags or pillows)
  • 4L ice cream pails WITH lids
  • Kitchen weigh scales (for weighing up to 1 kg)
  • Can openers
  • Medium point black permanent markers (Sharpies)

For toiletries what most people need are the necessities (tooth brushes, toothpaste,deodorant, etc.) There will be boxes at the cash area for these donations.
